Men’s Health editor-in-chief and best-selling author David Zinczenko is leaving Rodale, the family-owned magazine and book empire headed by Maria Rodale.
Steve Perrine, the head of Rodale Books, is also exiting. The two men are said to be teaming up on a new venture. Neither could be reached for comment.
Zinczenko’s departure is seen as a loss to Rodale.
A 21-year veteran of the company, Zinczenko was elevated to general manager of Rodale’s Healthy Living Group, which includes Women’s Health, Prevention and Organic Gardening.
He is also the most high-profile editor on the corporate roster, making frequent guest appearances on NBC’s “Today” Show and other outlets, as well as the author of the popular “Eat This Not That” book franchise.
